Composting is a form of recycling, specifically one that recycles organic material (such as fruits, vegetables, ect) into soil and fertilizer to enrich plants.
Usually when fruits and vegetables don't get composted, they go to the landfill. While landfills can work for trash that's can't go anywhere else, we want to minimize the amount of trash that ends up in landfills so it releases less carbon dioxide and methane into the air!
(Composting fun fact; did you know it takes upwards of 10 years for a single carrot to decompose in a landfill? It only takes two weeks in a compost pile.)

Alongside keeping organic matter outside of the landfill, composting has its own host of benefits, environment related and not!
(Excuse the chat-gpt esque format, but here's a completely human made list of the possible benefits of composting!)

In conclusion?
Composting is essential to the health of our planet, and I highly encourage you to advocate for the environment even if you can't compost yourself!
